Budros Ruhlin Roe

Jessica A. Lee

Senior Portfolio Advisor

During my 16 years working in the financial industry, I have come to realize that being an investment advisor is not just about providing good portfolio returns. If investment performance is my primary objective, then building a great relationship with my clients is a close second.  The only way you can become a great advisor is by becoming your clients’ counselor.  My mission is to become my clients’ trusted partner and work with them to achieve their long term investment goals.

I immigrated to the United Stated from South Korea at age 10.  Being 10 years old and moving to the United States, without knowing a single word of English, for most would be very scary, but I saw it as more of a new opportunity. Settling on Long Island, New York, I quickly made new friends and adjusted to the new culture. Having parents who didn’t speak the language and who worked 15 hour days to support the family, I learned to be independent and self-sufficient at an early age.  My parents taught me strong work ethics and self-confidence and never allowed me to use my race as an excuse to hold myself back.

I attended the George Washington University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology before moving out into the real world.  Believe it or not, Biology was my intended major but by the luck of the stars I was forced to take an economics elective and I was instantly hooked. Of course, I had to finish what I had started so I finished my biology degree as well.

I began my career working with a team of portfolio managers at Neuberger Berman in New York City, providing trading, administrative and client support. Upon relocating to Columbus, Ohio, I worked as a fixed income advisor at Sweney Cartwright before joining Budros, Ruhlin & Roe in 2002.

I live in Hilliard with my husband and three sons, ages 11, 7 and 3.  I am extremely involved in my children’s school activities because I recognize the importance of education. This is the primary reason I joined the Board of the Hilliard Education Foundation. I am so grateful to Budros, Ruhlin & Roe for providing me with the flexibility to be successful in my career without sacrificing quality family life, which I saw my parents struggle with growing up.

To keep my sanity and my three boys out of trouble, we are all working towards our black belts in Tae Kwon Do.
